The one with the angel – Day 8

Today he’s a nero in Franklin, North Carolina, with a stay at The Grove Hostel. It was a relaxing day eating good city food with new friends.

Route report

I only had 6 miles left to get to Winding Stair Gap for pickup at 11:30am. A cold front arrived and with it rain. It stopped raining before we set off, but it was much colder.

I arrived at 10:00 am at the hole and would have had to wait 90 minutes for a ride. But a trail angel led 4 hikers into town, and I was one of them! What a blessing.

I had lunch on elegant dishes and resubmitted my application in English. Then I had dinner at a Japanese restaurant with Pickup, Blueberry, Blaze and Stairmaster.

Thought of the day

I don’t think about today. My brain was resting.

people i met

Today I met Blaze who is from Georgia and is only 30 minutes from the trail. It started the same day as me. He is only 18 years old and plans to make it to Katahdin. I hope to interact more with him in the future.

Plant of the day

The plant of the day is Golden Alexanders. Interestingly, it is a flowering perennial plant that is part of the carrot family.

bird of the day

The bird of the day is the American goldfinch. They are yellow in summer but turn brown in winter.
