Marion Outdoors took me back to the trail just after 8am this morning. They run the Merry Hiker Inn smoothly and efficiently. Arriving after a 19 mile day, fully resupplied, and being on the trail the next morning felt good.
Today’s trail was mostly short, albeit steep, hills followed by mostly gradual descents. Halfway through the day I stopped by the settlers’ museum. A local church keeps the school well supplied with magical trails. They had Gatorade and various snacks, but also plenty of first aid and personal care items.
Cow grazing after school.
Today I have no complaints about my joints or tendons. Before my injury I would walk for an hour with a break. I find that my body is much happier with 45 minutes of walking between (short) breaks. Still, 18 miles was enough for today. I have excess food, so I plan to experiment with a third cooked meal. Maybe not tomorrow.
- Breakfast: The rest of the cereal box.
- Dinner: Refried beans with taco spices
- Snacks: Poha, trail mix, pop tarts, clif bar
