Mohun Bagan Super Giant missed the chance to top the table after being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Inter Kashi FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Tuesday.
The result left Mohun Bagan level on 22 points with East Bengal FC after 11 matches, although the latter retained top spot with a better goal difference. The two Kolkata giants are now set for a virtual title decider in the derby scheduled for May 17.
Mohun Bagan dominated possession for most of the match but struggled to break through Inter Kashi’s compact and disciplined defence. The visitor, who parted ways with head coach Antonio Lopez Habas a day earlier, packed his box of bodies and successfully denied the hosts any clear route to the goal.
Despite being under pressure for long periods, Inter Kashi created the best chance of the match in the ninth minute when Mohammad Asif failed to connect properly and missed an open goal from close range.

Looking to step up their attacking drive after the break, Mohun Bagan head coach Sergio Lobera introduced striker Jamie Maclaren and experienced full-back Subhasish Bose. However, Inter Kashi’s organized defense continued to frustrate the hosts, who looked like a rudderless boat once inside the attacking zone. Mohun Bagan came close several times in the second half, but the attackers lacked the finishing touch needed to force a breakthrough.
East Bengal had suffered a similar setback against Punjab FC a day earlier, giving Mohun Bagan the chance to move ahead in the standings with a win over an Inter Kashi side that had struggled for consistency in recent matches.
But like their arch-rivals, Mohun Bagan faltered in the attacking third, failing to find the right approach against an ultra-defensive opponent who arrived with the clear intention of securing a point.
Inter Kashi remain in 10th place with 12 points from 11 matches.
