Mission Creek Mission – The Hike

Man oh man, Mission Creek. That was difficult terrain. The first three miles of climbing were calm, but by the time we reached the creek the tides changed.

The most difficult part of this section was finding the trail. Large areas have been completely washed away leaving miles of uphill rock and sand walking. It felt like a big puzzle and I’m grateful to have been with a good team to solve it.

Mission Creek Mission – The Hike
There were times when we would climb over crumbling cliffs and walk along the creek only to realize that the trail was on the other side of where we were standing. It was a frustrating feeling zigzagging up, up, across and down what little of the trail was left.

The only good thing about today was the abundance of water. We were able to take plenty of breaks, refill water when we wanted, and even soak our feet. Overall we were in good spirits considering how difficult the day seemed. We conquered Mission Creek.

Tonight felt a little blurry. We arrived at Mission Camp and had dinner immediately. I’m so tired from today’s walk that I didn’t even make it to midnight (8 pm) before I retired to my tent.

What a day!
