Nepal opened its SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Bhutan at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa, on Monday.
It was Dorji Edon’s own goal in the 23rd minute that proved to be the difference between the Group A sides.
Both teams will next face Sri Lanka in the tournament with India, Bangladesh and Maldives placed in the other group.
Host nation India will take on Maldvies later in the day.
The top two teams from each group will reach the semi-finals, which will be held on June 3, while the top clash will take place on June 6.
