The Durand Cup 2025 will have the Malaysian army instead of the team from Indonesia, after conversations with the latter failed at the last minute before the tournament.
The tournament, the oldest in Asia, is organized by the Indian forces and will be played at six locations in five cities.
It is understood that after seven Indian Super League (ISL) parties had withdrawn from the tournament in recent months, with uncertainty about the League and the Master Rights Agreement, the Indian army had conversations with various South Asian army teams, including Nepal, Bhutan, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Nepal – Tribhuwan Army – and Indonesia initially confirmed their participation, but the latter eventually withdrew, the Malaysian army replaced.
The Malaysian army is signed in Group E with Shillong Lajong, Rangdajied United and Northast United FC and plays his group games games in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

In the meantime, the Tribhuwan army is drawn in group C with Jamshedpur FC, 1 Ladakh FC and the Indian Army Football team. The group phase games are played in the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
It will be third consecutive time for the Nepalese army team in the tournament. However, it has not gone beyond the group stage.
