Liverpool announced on Saturday that it had parted ways with head coach Arne Slot after a disappointing season in which the club finished fifth.
The club owner said in a statement: “It goes without saying that this has been a difficult decision for us as a club. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC during his time with us has been significant, meaningful and – most importantly for the supporters and for ourselves – successful.”
Slot led the club to the Premier League title in his first season in England in 2025, but results the following season, following a transfer overlay of over £450 million, saw the club finish fifth, 25 points behind champions Arsenal.
«We have collectively come to the conclusion that change is necessary for the club to continue moving forward. Once again, it must be emphasized that this is not a decision taken lightly, anything but,» the statement said.
