Haitian midfielder Pierre is out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an adductor injury

Haitian midfielder Leverton Pierre has been ruled out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to an adductor injury, the country’s football federation announced on Thursday.

“Leverton Pierre will not be able to play at the World Cup after the medical team discovered an injury to his right adductor,” the Haitian Football Federation said in a statement.

It has called up centre-back Garven Metusala, who plays for second-tier USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks, to replace Pierre.

Haiti will play Scotland in its first match in Group C on Saturday. It will also play five-time world champions Brazil and Morocco.

Haiti is participating in its second World Cup after appearing in 1974.
