What I’m carrying on the path of John Muir

Notes on gear selection

What I’m doing on the JMT is slightly different than what I would traditionally do on my typical Superior Hiking Trail trips back home in Minnesota. National parks and national forests have different regulations, and the High Sierra is a totally different environment than where I spend most of my time. My base kit is pretty much the same, but due to location, distance, remoteness, and time on the trail, I adapted slightly and ended up with a higher base weight. I just have to make peace with that. I’m not a dedicated ultralighter either! I like a little comfort and stability in my equipment. Now, on to the important stuff!
