German Leroy Sane opened the scoring within two minutes in his FIFA World Cup Group E match at the New York/New Jersey Stadium on Thursday.
Sane’s goal was scored after 1 minute and 49 seconds when he fired home from the edge of the penalty area after a fast start from Germany. This was Sane’s first ever World Cup goal.
This was Germany’s second-fastest goal at a World Cup since Ernest Lehner struck 25 seconds into the third-place 1934 play-off match against Austria.
