Lionel Messi scores his second direct free kick in the FIFA World Cup during Argentina versus Jordan

Argentina’s Lionel Messi scored his second direct free kick in the FIFA World Cups during a Group J match against Jordan in Dallas on Saturday.

Coming off the bench, Messi won a free-kick after being fouled by Amer Jamous on the edge of the penalty area. The 39-year-old then curled the ball around the Jordanian wall and past the keeper to find the net.

Messi had previously scored a direct free kick against Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup.

His goal against Jordan was his sixth of the ongoing World Cup and his 19th in the tournament, extending his all-time goals record.

Messi is now the first player to score in seven consecutive World Cup matches, a streak that started in the previous edition.
