Jose Canale scored the first sudden penalty, Orlando Gill made two important saves and Paraguay upset Germany 4-3 on penalties after finishing 1-1 on Monday, delivering the biggest upset of the 2026 World Cup so far and advancing to the round of 16 for the first time since 2010.
Paraguay took the lead in regulation when Julio Enciso scored from a header late in the first half. Kai Havertz equalized for Germany in the 52nd minute.
