The US, co-host of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, booked a place in the round of 16 after a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium on Wednesday.
Goals from Folarin Balogun and Malik Tillman were enough to secure passage to the next leg, but USA had to work hard after being reduced to 10 men after Balogun was sent off in the 64th minute.
The result means that all three host countries – the US, Canada and Mexico – have reached the last 16 stage.
Who will USA face in the Round of 16?
The US will take on Belgium in the Round of 16, with the match set to be played on July 6 at Seattle Stadium.
Belgium booked their place in the last 16 after coming back from two goals down to beat Senegal in extra time.
