Aria’s strike helps Colombia beat Ghana and clinch 16th place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; Player Ratings

Colombia defeated Ghana 1-0 on Friday to reach the 16 World Cup final, with Jhon Arias scoring the only goal in the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup 32nd match in Kansas City.

Arias struck from close range in the 14th minute after a cross from Luis Suarez, who had only just come on as a substitute for the injured Jhon Cordoba.

Luis Diaz thought he had doubled Colombia’s lead in the 56th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Colombia dominated much of the match, with Ghanaian goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi making three notable saves. The coffee farmers advance to Switzerland in the round of ‌16 on Tuesday in Vancouver.
