Why doesn’t Tchouameni start for France vs Paraguay in FIFA World Cup 2026 RO16?

Aurelien Tchouameni will not start for France in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 against Paraguay at the Philadelphia Stadium on Saturday.

The defensive midfielder, who was a regular under Didier Deschamps, is out due to a thigh injury.

The ‌26-year-old started three of France’s four matches at the tournament and will be replaced by Manu Kone.

France advanced to the knockout stages after topping Group I with a perfect record, winning all three matches before cruising to a 3–0 win over Sweden in the round of 32.
