What was the controversy surrounding England’s goal against Norway at the 2026 World Cup?

Jude Bellingham scored the equalizer for England and Norway in their 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final in Miami on Saturday but the strike was overshadowed by controversy.

Several Norwegian players, including Erling Haaland, and head coach Stale Solbakken complained to match officials after the goal in stoppage time.

According to social media reports, Orjan Nyland’s goal kick hit a camera wire on its way to Elliot Anderson on the halfway line, who passed the ball to Anthony Gordon and allowed him to assist Bellingham.

FIFA ran a check on this and released a statement saying: “I have checked the data and there is no spike in the graph from the connected ball heart rate sensor.”
