Completing the Key West A Canada walk

This morning I woke up around 4 in the morning and I packed. I have about 7 miles to go to the parking lot of Zealand Hut path. That’s where Ibex has been parked weeks ago when I was previously here. So, that is where I needed to connect my standing path to complete the path of the Apalaches.

He was ready to shoot around 4:30 am Taco decided to sleep and start a little late. Today there is a bad weather, so there really is no hurry to start. His best option will probably be to stay around Zealand Hut, or the following refuge. Getting up and more about Franconia during the rain and thunder would be incredibly dangerous. As I know very well.

Passing the beautiful lake that we camped near night.

The first mile was more or less a bit slow. The land was definitely not ideal to move 3 mph. What was getting a little nervous that I could be late on my trip. He had remembered this section of Trail that went to Zealand Hut as one of the best in New Hampshire. Then I was Banking to be able to move at 3 mph all morning. Fortunately, after the first mile more or less, the path was leveled and became really pleasant and soft. I was able to accelerate the rhythm and the rest of the morning was fast and easy.

Hiking was pleasant and easy this morning, since I went to the Zealand path.

Finally, I went on a part of the path reminded me surprisingly of the PCT. The path was sandy, and there were great views open to the left of a valley below. It really reminded me of Sierra Nevada, where I will go as soon as this path ends. It was a really beautiful morning, and I felt very grateful to be finishing my trip here on the east coast. He knew that New Hampshire and South Maine were going to be the most difficult parts of the TralaACHES path. But even after doing them before, I did not remember how difficult they were.

This section of the Sender of the Apalaches was surprisingly similar to the Sierra in California.

The last week has been incredibly difficult. More than anything is the amount of time dedicated to hiking that has been the most exhausting. I suppose that many people would have been satisfied when making shorter days and they would not have been running almost so irregular. But my desire to finish this path and return to the PCT was greater than anything else. And the only way I have been able to keep the mileage about 25 miles a day has been walking anywhere from 13 to 17 hours a day. It will be a great relief to return to the PCT, where I know that the land will be much less technical. Even the Sierra could not be as exhausting as the southern Maine on the path of the Apalaches.

The Zealand path has many cute bridges so you don’t have to wet your feet.

I ended up arriving at the parking lot at 7 am and walked along the road while my father approached. As always, the moment could not have been better. I jumped in the car and we left! Drive once again from New Hampshire to Boston to be able to go to the airport. It was really nice to see my dad and catch up with him. The last week along the way has been so exhausting. I have barely had time to talk to any family, or do any writing or video work.

And so, I connected the path of my foot. Key West A Canada is complete.

Although tomorrow is July 4, there was very little traffic that was heading to Boston. We stopped on the way to have a breakfast. Then, later, we stop once again to stretch and use the bathroom. I finished with a delicious coffee with hot caramel milk in the rest area, which was very good. And then, before realizing, we were in Boston.

My dad picked me up and we went to Boston.

Before addressing the terminal, we stopped in a parking area to be able to pack my equipment again. Once again, there are many things that I am going to change. I am returning from my alpha 120 to my alpha 90 set by Sambob. I have new shoes, which was very late. I also obtained a lot of random things, such as dehydrated mountain house meals, coconut oil packages, micro picos and some other items. I also left some articles with my dad.

Then we said goodbye and headed to the airport. And I had so early for my flight that I had to sit for an hour before they allowed me to check my bag. But I have a lot of work so being trapped, I really didn’t care. I found a space on the floor to sit and obtain a video and a couple of blog posts. Then, once I could, I checked my bag and went to the airport more.

I took some food and found a pleasant place to sit down and wait for my flight. I want to eat a lot, load my electronic products and do as much work as possible. I hope to be completely trapped with videos and blogs for when I return to the PCT tomorrow. I ate a quite good burrito at the airport, which was surprising. Then, I just sat for hours doing the job until it finally came to get on the plane.

Once again, I could not shower or wash my clothes before my flight. But at least my dad brought me this clean shirt.

This plane will take me from Boston to Denver. Then I will have a scale for about an hour before flying from Denver to Reno. The reason to fly in reindeer has more to do with my trip from the airport than anything else. Outside Jay, an angel of trails who has helped me a lot this year and in the past, he will pick me up. Reno is closer to where he lives and makes an easier impulse.

Everything went without problems and the flights were pleasant and easy. When I got into Denver, I even had enough time to get more food. Then he boarded my last flight and made a lot of writing during the flight to Reno. Outside, Jay picked me up around 9 pm at Reno airport. It was very nice to see him again, and he feels like a relief to return to the PCT.

Airport dinner at Denver before my final flight to Reno.

When I was here before, I saw Jay for my birthday in mid -May. Then I saw it in Kennedy Meadows to the south the day I turned back to the east coast. And at that time I was convinced that I would return here in maybe in two weeks or a little more after finishing the AT. But obviously, things took a little more time because I was injured for 16 days. There was definitely a time when I was not sure whether I would return here or not. Then it feels wonderful to be here.

Jay was super organized and had everything resolved. Reno’s trip to Kennedy Meadows will be about six hours. We stopped in In-N-out and took some dinner. Then we even headed to Walmart to be able to make my refueling during the first section of 200 miles in the Sierra. That way we didn’t have to stop anywhere else and save a lot of money in Walmart against the Kennedy Meadows store.

After doing everything Jay placed the bed on the back of his covered truck so that I could sleep during the rest of the trip. Definitely, that was not something I expected, but it was the most intelligent and reflective idea that I have heard. He has helped other hikers in the past with ambitious objectives such as FKT attempts and triple crowns of the calendar year. I know he helped Quadzilla in 2022 in his Triple Crown Calendar year attempt. Then he understands. He assumed that he would be without sleep and that he would end up taking tomorrow to catch up.

But instead, I had to go to bed at the back of the truck bed during the next five or six hours and rest a little. Who knows if it will be enough to leave tomorrow. Yesterday I walked for 17 hours in a row to complete the presidential traverse and approach the path for my trip this morning. And the 3 to 5 days before that, I have also been walking from 13 to 15 hours a day. But I hope a little rest does me good.
