Former Tottenham and England -midfielder Paul Gascoigne recovers at home after being released from the hospital.

The 58-year-old, who lives in Poole, on the south coast of England, was admitted to Intensive Care on Friday after he was found semi-conscious by a friend.

However, his management company has confirmed that he has now been fired.

«Paul volunteered in A&E (accident and emergency situation) on Friday after wrestling with a throat disorder (not by ambulance) that he has had for a while,» said a statement of the Mnt Desk. «He is already home again and is doing well.»

Gascoigne, who won 57 caps for his country, was discovered by Steve Foster, who works as his driver and personal assistant.

He was treated by Intensive Care staff and later moved to an acute medical unit, where his condition was stable, and he has since been released.

One of the most naturally gifted football players of his generation played Gascoigne for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton.

He became a global star after his striking performances at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, where England reached the semi -final, and he also impressed Euro 1996.

The problems of the midfielder with alcohol addiction and depression are well documented and he has had a series of health problems in recent years.

In 2020, Gascoigne said he had turned his life after he had sewn anti-alcohol pellets in his belly.

But last year he admitted on the high -performance podcast that he was a «sad drunk» who lived in a guest room in his agent’s house.
