The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has given Javier «Chicharito» Hernandez a fine and started a study after the former striker of Manchester United Social Media videos had posted that football authorities said «promote sexist stereotypes».
In a joint statement that FMF was released on Wednesday, together with the best men’s and women’s competitions from Mexico – Liga MX and Liga MX Femenil – said civil servants that Hernandez’s comments were contrary to their gender and diversity policy and formed a form of media violence.
FMF has imposed a financial fine and issued a warning, and can follow more serious sanctions if Hernandez repeats such behavior.
«A few days ago, Hernandez made statements that promote sexist stereotypes that are considered media -violence in sport on the social media platform ‘Tiktokform’,» the football bodies said in the explanation.
«The gender and diversity committee announces that it has started a study that this behavior wants to prevent and punish, to determine a financial fine and a warning for Javier ‘El Chicharito’ Hernandez, which states that this committee will take more serious measures in the case of a repeated attack.»

Hernandez, 37, posted videos on the weekend in which he called for women to «be guided by a man» and accused women of «exterminating masculinity».
The controversial athlete also said that society had become ‘hypersensitive’ and questioned feminist views on domestic roles.
The comments were large -scale criticized as sexist and from contact with contemporary society, which gave rise to condemning fans and public figures, including President Claudia Sheinbaum.
«He is a very good football player, but in terms of his opinion about women, I think he still has a lot to learn because women can be what we want to be,» said Sheinbaum on Wednesday in her daily news conference.
Hernandez, the most important scorer of Mexico, joined the Chivas boys’ club in January 2024 after playing for La Galaxy and various top European teams, including Manchester United, West Ham United, Real Madrid and Seville.
Chivas also condemned his comments.
«The club has taken the right measures in accordance with its internal regulations,» said the Liga MX side.
«As an institution with a deep sense of social responsibility, we reject every behavior, point of view or expression that strengthens stereotypes that limit the freedom, respect and complete development of all people.»
