Leader
Yesterday I got into the small town of Leadore, Idaho at 3pm after pushing 25 miles. I knew that everything in the city closed at 5 pm and wanted to make sure I could get some kind of food.
The transport driver Jen was waiting for me when I arrived at the remote path to 13 miles outside the city 10 minutes before.
«Until early!» I said.
«I try to get early so that hikers don’t have to wait.» She tells me.
We chat while she takes me to the city on how some people try to get hooked and end up waiting for many hours. This path is not used frequently.
As we approach the city, she gives me the 30 -second tour. «Don’t blink!» She says: «Or you will miss him.» There is the store, the post office, the restaurant and the Mustang Inn.
Jen leaves me in the inn (where my shoes are supposed to be). After talking to the owner, Mark, I take a bed in the house of the bunk and I receive the news that my package has not arrived. Shoot.
After arriving at Amazon to see what happened, it seems that my shoes came to Idaho, then they were sent to Texas! That?! Someone was wrong. My new expected date was today. Ok, not so bad, except they never showed.
The next morning, I checked his status and Amazon tells me that they could take until 27 to get here. Ahhhhhh!
Later in the day he says they are out for delivery. What is happening? How many days did you spend here waiting for shoes? I already took a non -planned day for them. Do I take 2? 3?
The last update says that they should arrive tomorrow between 11:30 and 1:15. I guess I can wait much longer before returning to the road. I tell myself that maybe the rest needed. This last section of Darby had a lot of elevation change and made a day of 31.7 miles and two 28.
Maybe God is aligning something? It is difficult at the time not to get frustrated when things do not go according to the plan. I have to remind me that God’s plan is better than mine and this was not a surprise for him. It is difficult since the group of boys with whom it was close now has more than one day and I wonder if I am in a land of no mans among hikers. However, I trust God and I know that he chooses all things for the good of those who love him. Even if it means late shoe deliveries.
On the positive side, there is a guitar in the Mustang Inn that I can play while I hope. There are also other hikers here to talk and hang out, which has been pleasant.
Wild Child is a Nobo who has been on the way for almost 4 months and we question the information on the way to come. Young Blood is a Denmark hiker that I have not seen from East Glacier. The chewing toy entered today. I just met her a few days ago leaving Darby.
I also met Squalo, whom I met in 2023 on the path of the Apalaches.
The delays are not usually something we expect, but my unofficial motto to take the step is: «Rod with the blows.» So I am doing everything possible to roll with the delay. Knowing that it will not last forever and that I still have a lot of time (I think) to go through Colorado before winter takes charge.
Besides, it’s my one -month trailarsary!
