Sarina Wiegman, manager of the English women’s football team, will want to be the second head coach who won the ladies-euro in three consecutive editions after Tina Theune-Meyer, when her team accepts Spain in the final on Sunday.
By cementing a place in the game in St. Jakob Park in Basel, Wiegman became the first men’s or women’s manager who reached five consecutive major tournament finals while the Leeuwessen are preparing to defend their crown.
If England wins, she only becomes the fourth manager in the history of the euro who retains the title with the same nation after Gero Bisanz, Theune-Meyer and Silvia Neid, who all won with Germany.
