I walked through the fog, forests and the red sand: on the 3rd on the coastal path of Portugal

Distance: ~ 10 km
SENDERO ADDRESS: Southward
Conditions: Fog, wind, forests with eucalyptus and rain aroma … again

3 good things that happened today

  • It smelled eucalyptus and walked through soft pine forest paths
  • He found an open -air exercise circuit randomly and played as children
  • Stained storks, stuffed animals and red while watching birds along the cliffs

Fisherman’s Trail Day 3 from Almograve to Cavaleiro I was constantly changed to me: butter forests, red -sand cliffs and views of the quiet ocean. This shorter section offered a very necessary restart after two full days of paths, combining moments of play with pure stillness along the robust coast of Portugal.

On day 3 he brought bad skies, waves crashing and this, cliffs that stopped me dry. The Portugal coast continues to fly.

Today was ours The shortest day so far on the path of fishermen. Orion and I took a slightly different itinerary compared to the suggested fishermen path. We would not be walking with Sandra and Oliver today, who would complete the itinerary of the suggested day of almograve to Zambujeira do Mar.

We all had a slow morning. I slept a little while Oliver made frittata vegetables (Heroes Movement), and used the time to catch up with some administrator things before leaving. Oliver and Sandra left early, since they had about 20 km+ to complete today and Orion and I left our apartment when paying around 11 AM we packed and stopped to have a quick coffee in the city. Finally I found my favorite coffee in Portugal called «Meia de Leite» (a flat target), and they are so delicious! While I was drinking my coffee, Orion and I ended up chatting with a boy from Colorado Springs who was stumbleding for Portugal. I love those little chats of spontaneous paths with strangers that make the world feel smaller.

What I saw on the path of the Path of the Fishermen Day 3: Almograve to Cavaleiro

While Sandra and Oliver walked today with a longer stretch, Orion and I took it easy.

Today’s path gave us a mixture of coastal cliffs, pine forest roads and ocean fog. At one point, the fog left the sea and hugged the trees along the edge of the cliffs. It was impressive, soft and in a bad mood in that way, only the fog can be.

It was the first day on the path of the fishermen who brought us inland, which was really pleasant to experience a new landscape and walking through green tunnels. After two days of fighting the wind and walking through the sand, walking through soft pine needles and Eucalyptus with smell in trees I felt so relaxing. He reminded me that this path is not just about dramatic views, it is also the sensory base, to feel that his body softens in the landscape.

Walking through green tunnels and soft pine needles. After days of wind and sand, this stretch was felt as a deep exhalation.

But what surprised me today was how suddenly the The landscape changed. A minute we were walking through soft pine forest with eucalyptus in the air, and the next, we were surrounded by deep red sand and rich sandstone cliffs. The tones of the path changed rapidly, like the entire coast revealed another side of itself. I kept stopping to take it: the contrast of the dark earth against the moody skies and how different it felt under my feet. It is one of my favorite things about long -distance hiking: you never know what comes around the corner.

From the green forest to the deep red sand in minutes. The fisherman’s path changes rapidly, and today, he felt like walking around another world.

Trail surprises and cliff lunch

Somewhere on the road, we encounter a Random outdoor training circuit hidden in the forest. He had monkey bars and pull-up bars, and we couldn’t resist. We play as children, doing flexions, trying (and failing) doing the appropriate impersions with our packages and simply laughing. I did not expect to feel the half of playing in mono bars, but here we are!

Trapped in the middle of the mono bars, with a backpack, of course. Trail Joy looks different every day, and today it looked like this.

Later in the day, we found a quiet cliff for lunch. The wind was strong, but the place was protected enough to feel like a Small shelter From the starry ocean. We sat there eating delicious raisins and mussels and simply breathing everything. More fog shot through the water while we saw the sea birds around the head.

Bird observation bonus

One of the surprises of the day was how many birds we saw. We saw stuffed animals, redAnd even a storing in a cliff. It made me want to know more about birds (and I had binoculars!). Even so, he felt special, like the path that gave us a small quiet wild life show.

Rolling in Caballero

We arrive at Gentleman Just before the rain started again. Even with such a short day, I felt exhausted. I think I underestimated how much energy is needed to walk sand and wind Every day, even if the kilometers are low.

Although we arrived in time for check-in, our apartment was not ready yet, so we walked through the city to explore. And there really wasn’t much to do. A small grocery store, a coffee and a local restaurant. When we registered, I took advantage of having a washing machine and washed my clothes and hung it to dry out. Unfortunately, in a few minutes it began to go down, so I brought the clothes again and hung it around the house. My socks will probably still be wet tomorrow, but at least they will smell well!

P.S. If you wonder what attracted me to the path of the fishermen, I wrote everything about it here!

Trail Luxury: A washing machine. Of course, my socks are still wet … but at least smell of detergent and hope of eucalyptus.

I did not feel too inspired by our restaurant options, so Orion and I stayed and we cook again. Fortunately, we both packed some dinner options as a backup. Orion was cooking Ramen and boiled some water to cook my fettucine desydrated of the backpackers pantry. These dehydrated meals are very good! We relax and go on the couch. We look good and early because tomorrow we have to reach Sandra and Oliver and walk 30 km From Cavaleiro to Odeceixe. It has been a while since I have walked that kind of distance, I am excited to see how it feels!

House at night. Nothing luxurious, but exactly what we needed: dry space, hot food and a sofa to collide before tomorrow.

3 Lessons on day 3 on the Fisherman Path in Portugal

  • Learn new trees while walking a lot of fun: Today I finally discovered how an eucalyptus tree looks!
  • Path meals do not need to be elegant to be delicious: the hydrated fettuccine after a day of walking is divine.
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously. Being playful is an excellent way to tune in with your inner child and be silly.

Three days later, and I am completely in that. The fishing path continues to surprise me, through its Textures, moods and quiet beauty. I feel tired, happy and very, very present.

More tomorrow from the way ahead.
Good night from Knight! 💛
