PSV Eindhoven beats Underdog Go to Vonting Eagles to win Johan Cruyff Shield

Dutch Champion PSV Eindhoven came from behind to beat the Cup winner on Sunday with 2-1 to take the Johan Cruyff Shield, the super cup of the country.

American Fullback Sergino Dest scored the winning goal in the 84th minute, with the third trophy being secured under former Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz.

Go ahead with one of the largest Underdog stories in Europe last season and won the KNVB Cup-De first major trophy in 92 years-wasting AZ Alkmaar with 4-2 on penalties.

In the Super Cup final it took the lead in the 35th minute when Mathis Suray made a low cross of left-back Dean James at home. It seemed on course to continue the dream run when Eagles defender Gerrit Nauber’s own goal recovered in the second half.

Dest then found the net, six minutes of the time, to start the 2025-26 season on a high.

Eindhoven is the defensive Dutch Prime Minister Division champion and wants to secure a hat trick of competition titles, something that it has not achieved since 2008.
