NYC – The walk

An invited publication written by Mr Cheese, edited by To-Go

Through full -time work is a full -time job and we don’t have weekends. As our bodies become stronger and our minds break with the endless cadence of the dream of eating, it is difficult to imagine to enter the camp and do anything else to rest. So there comes a time on each trip of excursions that such a scandalous, rhombase and completely eliminated proposition from the spirit of the walk arises that even the most domesticated (F1: Tamest, in this community, is, of course, of course. Last weekend (Editor’s note: a few weeks have passed …), we follow the aroma of the bars and hot garbage to New York City. It was ridiculous and very fun. We are going to break it down.

Everything is bigger in New York … except our egos. After walking an appliance of 15 Mile through Bear Mountain Park, our group (the usual suspects more Pony, a hiker in our bubble for a long time who we finally got into our orbit) went to the Peekskill train station to catch the 4:30 meter to the north to the city. I had to direct our group to exercise temperance in the face of the abundant wine from the road to the «zoo» outside the path, so that we could take the train on time. We ended up showing a car by train from Yankees fans through the smell acquired in sweat and ammonia (see: sandbox without cleaning) of the metabolized muscles. The effect was immediate and, unfortunately, hilarious for us, since the poor passengers pressed any end of the car to escape from Miasma. A teenager spent his girlfriend and told him not to look. A woman held her nose and gagged. I know we all feel bad, about ourselves, for them. But this is who we are, you caught us at a stinking moment of our life, and I swear we were on the way to our various accommodations to take a shower and cool off. But not before adding to Times Square for a iconic Photo OP with the crew before everyone disperse.

So we enjoy a quick Victoria Victoria at Grand Central Off the Metro. I think you can distinguish tourists from authentic locals in New York for their ability to spend instead of looking at The Weird. For the thousands of city visitors that day, we were only one more rarity to comment or take a cunning photo. In a way, I felt less out of place than in the small villages outside the path in which we go from time to time. If you have been in New York, you know there are plenty More to get attention than a few hairy backpacks. I have passed through here in more traditional circumstances, a weekend visit or a family vacation. But getting here from the path really feels like winning. The food knows better, the excesses of people are less annoying and the tedium of an existence of the ordinary city is comfortable. And if it is ever too much, the path is just a train trip (F2: no, in reality, just a train. We left the station to get to Times Square. While we walked, to go it was paralyzed by the bustling and overwhelming energy and the Colossal architecture.

The group of dirty hikers in Grand Central Station in Grand Central

And then we were crossing the street in the heart. Lihat juga mxks. There were the giant ads, the trailers that played for films that we have never heard about, the sound of a dozen different languages that were played in a wonderful and unintelligible urban cacophony. Gaslight’s friend (they are everywhere) materialized from the crowd and passed us to the central stand so that we could pose for the main image. A middle -aged couple passed and we paid a very necessary attention, asking if we were in the AT and saying that finishing a walk is their dream. Hey, we too. After a dispute for a hiker, we produced some winning portraits that will see below. We did it!

We had about four different accommodation arrangements to attend, and it was getting late (Manhattan does not respect midnight from the hiker). Some of us had friends in the city to arrive, or a check-in of the hotel. Some of us hit the Halal or McDonalds cars, and then we told ourselves our farewells. To-go and I headed to a train station to go to Brooklyn, where we expect my contact from New York: My brother, Sam! We found your apartment and settled to spend the night. Great things to come in the morning. But first, breakfast at Good Thank in Williamsburg, a nice Australian coffee with good coffee and atmosphere (F3: I could have depressed it in coffee. What was originally conceived as our «zero» would be to be a game of almost twenty hours around the districts in more than 30k steps, or ~ 15 miles. I think this gave me a yellow slip). After a lawyer, after the training station, we went to the training station for our time. «The rest of the crew was moving, making the attractions of the verification box for visitors for the first time. To separate from my brother and I to meet a friend. So we did that classic New York activity, which is honestly the best way to spend their open schedule in any city Second hand, record stores and coffee shops.

«The Tuscan curly, ideally.»

-E to someone with flavor

We briefly converge in the Strand bookstore in East Village. To take and my brother returned to their department to prepare for the night, have fun with their outfits («loan clothes») and take a nap. For my part, I connected to an old friend who was in the city during the weekend (F4: You have to love New York for always having someone you know there, somehow. In fact, while walking with my friend, he met one of his former Boston co -workers in the street. Serendipity or young people who live in the cities?) Again the balance of the street again. Through I walked a long way to get there.

It was time for the main event of the day, and let’s be sincere, the only way I convinced most people to enter the city. Roadhog and I conceived a celebration dinner in an authentic Chinese restaurant in New York, Tranamilio style.

Roadhog surprised the entire tramilia not only with the unexpected generosity of someone who withdraws $ 200 of cash from his pocket to cover the group food expenses from the eyes of the eyes, but also with his propensity to speak Mandarin? The restaurant waiter began with an enchanted expression, which quickly became a patient if a slightly exasperated conversation with someone who had an ability to speak of the fourth grade self -proclaimed in the native language of man.

A delight of the city that never sleeps is that time passes strangely. After dinner (an early one at 6 pm, according to my brother), we wandered by China Town and Little Italy before returning to the hotel to visit Mountain Dew, which is originally from the Appalaatch mountains of Cacalakin del Norte and was overwhelmed instantly by the big city. He had stayed in his hotel room to hide from the too brilliant lights of Times Square and beyond, so we all invaded his room with the Chinese leftovers and my brother, who works with plants, to present them and let them find out in the conversation of nerd plants before returning to Brooklyn.

Roadhog and Pony joined me, my brother and to go in our search to return to Brooklyn to enjoy nightlife (now they were somehow at 11 pm, far beyond midnight of the hiker, although to the locals and tourists of the city they did not seem imported). Luckily, previously on the path, in Uncle Johnny’s in Erwin, Tn, Stoker and I present the essay, a comedy show of Nathan Fielder, to La Tramilia. This show is fantastic and everyone should see it, but that is not the point, the point is that in this program, a New York bar called The Aligator Lounge is presented, a bar that is a short distance from my brother’s residence in Brooklyn. So the hikers took the most of this happy coincidence and brought our hiking legs dancing in the living room.

The night progressed as they tend to do, and before we knew it, it was 3 in the morning and we were eating bagels of a 24 -hour bag before finally hitting the hay at night (in the morning?). Scandalous, right?

Tomorrow, we had time to sleep before our train trip back to the forest, where we would resume our Sleep-School-Comer regime, but today we enjoyed our diversion in the wildest city on the path (until now).

Thanks New York and Good Night!
