I enjoyed my interactions with Marky Mark so far, but I don’t enjoy one thing. People who leave their bells in the morning. I receive an alarm, I even get it if you sleep and wake up to a second. But for text messages? Turn off that thing!
Oh ok. I slept super good in the cabin, apart from choosing the only part that would be hit with direct sunlight at 5. But I just moved my things on the other side and I could get a little more Shuiteye. After all, I’m going to enter the city early today. I have no place to be fast. Then, by the time arrived 7:30, I was still in bed. I unleashed the mattress in an attempt to force myself. But for once, the conditions were pleasant enough not to sweat everything. It was just … nice.
Marky Mark left, and then I got up to prepare. The only other inconvenience of the observation is that there is no deprived here … so I did not make my coffee in the morning. I have been «regular», but I can still hold it a bit. (TMI maybe, but hey, you are reading the blog of a hiker, and all we talk about is poop, eat and equipment!). Then … I went up to the road.
And oh boy, my body is actively breaking. There is some hip flexor that I can not really describe that you feel a bit painful. But only in certain steps. Basically, it is making it more difficult to go downhill. I started asking me … Do you feel that my feet and legs are having more impact because I have been walking for longer? Or is it the time to throw in the towel and admit that this backpack adventure without a frame was not worth the pound that I saved on their backs? Do not be misunderstood, this small package comes with me until the end. He has the signatures of my friends. But at the same time, I can’t help asking if I made an error for this walk. Maybe another should take.
Or maybe it shouldn’t. I felt super caught all day today. The green tunnel used to feel like a warm blanket, but now it seems that I am caught forever in a sea of it again and again. Even those fir forests that once gave me postponement now only feel a warning sign that my legs will have to take a descent very soon. He stopped in a shelter and was abandoned on Route 12 of VT in a hot, hot and hot summer morning.
And maybe that is a large part of that. It has been relentlessly hot and humid during the last days. Not as hot as the heat wave in New York, but it definitely seems that we are in another mini heat wave. Perhaps the smartest would be to duplicate zero. But neither do I want to do that.
He returned to Marky Mark and a new person, Sir Snail. Mm was walking, but Sir Snail needed a trip to the city, and also headed towards Café de Abacadabra, where I would be. We both went and ordered three articles. I got an affogy with a maple cremee, and it was absolutely charming! From here, I called Wise Pins and asked Chelsea (Chelsey? I never caught the spelling …) if I could take a walk from Abacadabra, of which I was more than happy to help. After a few minutes, we got into the truck and headed to the grocery store. I don’t really need a refueling at all … In fact, one could say that I still have too much food from the grocery store in Rutland. But, since the shelter is a bit far from civilization, I took some fungal ravioli, fried chicken and salmon for lunch. Trying to do anything to get some proteins in the system!
She took me back to the shelter and left my own devices. I took a very necessary shower (since my last two were cold, and then they had no bath gel), before going to the common area for cooking and eating! I have not cooked in a long time, so I was a little afraid to cook everything. In the end, I was happy with the result. The Ravioli was easy since it had a previously prescribed cooking time, and although I probably cook the salmon too much, it was not dry in bones or anything. Still quite tender!
I took a nap in the Yoga room (Zen felt), before spending about 15 minutes really trying to stretch my hip and discover what is happening. There were no foam rollers, but I used a yoga block to try to open my hips, before heading to the liter. Finally I did my hiking tasks here (cleaning my garbage, putting my bag again, getting clothes drying in my liter), before asking for a dinner at the local Cambodian place, Angkor Wat. The shelter is not transmitted to the city, but fortunately, a local path angel offered to give me a transport service, before realizing that it would be easier if it only entered and got me food. He picked it up and brought it! While trying to pay him, he told me he was a bit in the magic of the path … about him. Thanks James! I don’t know how to describe how much this meant for me. I have had such complicated feelings over all the walk, so this helped.
During the night, I tried to catch up on the blog, I really did. But I just talked to his fellow Blogger Goodwill about Instagram for a moment. He helped me put my head a little more straight, and then I also called a friend from Canada, while ate my food and ice cream. I have to put those nutrients!
Hopefully the good weather arrives. I know that 10 exciting days in my favorite mountain range should help. We just have to get there.
