Chelsea -defender Levi Colwill out of operation with ACL -Letsel


Chelsea Center Back Levi Colwill suffered a front intersection of Cruciate Ligament (ACL) during training, said the Premier League club late on Thursday, with the 22-year-old expecting to miss a large part of the new season.

The international of England underwent a successful operation on the injury, Chelsea added.

It usually takes about six to nine months for a player to recover from an ACL injury and returns to action.

«At the start of this week, the 22-year-old had returned to Cobham for the preseason, before he unfortunately sustained the injury in the training,» Chelsea said in a statement.

«Medical assessments confirmed that the operation would be the required way of acting. Levi will now start with his recovery and will be supported by the club’s medical department in Cobham during his rehabilitation phase,» it added.

Colwill made 43 performances in all Chelsea competitions last season and helped the West -London side to win the Club World Cup in July.

Chelsea, which finished fourth last season, opens his Premier League 2025-26 campaign against Crystal Palace on Stamford Bridge on August 17.
