The beautiful desert of goat rocks

Mt Adams

I was excited when I returned to the path after one night in Trout Lake. Having climbed to Mt Adams 3 times, this time it was going to be exciting to walk through the mountain.

I remember crossed the PCT in 2013 while directeding the head of the Killen path towards the Adams glacier. This time he would be crossing the Killen path while he was on the PCT.

Camping that night offered a beautiful view of the Adams glacier route on the north side of the mountain. It was certainly different to see it in August with all the melted snow of the glacier.

Cabra desert rocks

The highlight of the section from Trout Lake to White Pass is the Goat Rocks desert. Many PCT hikers list the goat as one of their favorite sections of the PCT, so I was excited to explore this Washington area for the first time.

As we climbed above the tree line and headed towards Mt Rainier, the landscape became more and more beautiful. Each crest line and each valley was impressive.

Our camp that night offered us views of Mt Adams, Mt Saint Hens and Rainier. It was easily my favorite PCT camp to date.

The walk from the camp to the white pass in the ridge line after the crest line with what seemed endless views.

I will return to Goat Rocks again, since there is much more to see and explore. The images that I have really shared do not do justice for how impressive the place is.
