Newcastle United played a aimless draw on Saturday with Aston Villa in their Premier League opener. But what remained one of the most important talk points was the absence of Alexander Isak from the MatchDay team of Newcastle.
Isak has been training away from the main team since his heavy transfer tires with title defender Liverpool.
According to British media, the Magpies have rejected an £ 110 million from the Reds, but the Swede has insisted on moving the club, which led to a fall -out between him and manager Eddie Howe.
Isak, who had 27 goals and six assists in all matches for Newcastle, rose to the status of a club hero when he scored the decisive goal against Liverpool in the League Cup final, which the team delivered his first silverware in more than seven decades.
After moving to Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022, the Swedish attacker has 62 goals and 11 assists for the Premier League side.

«It has been difficult because we are such a close group,» said Anthony Gordon, who replaced Isak as a center-forward to Villa, said TNT Sports After the game.
«We have never really had public problems, and that the first thing it is that it happened, it has tested us, but we still have that spirit of solidarity, and it will never go away, regardless of the individuals.»
In the meantime, Liverpool has signed Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain, and his intentions to move for Isak remain uncertain.
«It can take us closer; things like this can test you and ultimately make you better. I think with everything that happened, I am sure the atmosphere against Liverpool will be a bit wild!» Said Gordon.
