Aston Villa draws midfielders Jadon Sancho, Harvey Elliott on loan


Aston Villa signed midfielders Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott on loan from Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, on Monday when the Midlands Club strengthened his team after a disappointing start of the Premier League season.

Sancho joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but brought a loan back to the Bundesliga Club before he was lent to Chelsea last season.

«Sancho plays at the highest level of the club game since he was a teenager, especially impressive for Borussia Dortmund during his time in the Bundesliga,» Villa said on her website.

Sancho was impressed by in Chelsea and scored in the final victory of the UEFA Europa Conference League against Real Betis.

His arrival marked a busy last day of the transfer star for Villa, who also took the former 31-year-old Swedish defender Victor Lindelof of United on a free transfer after his departure from Old Trafford at the end of last season.

A united source said with a loan costs and performance bonuses, the club would get the full wage.

Villa said that the 22-year-old Elliott joined a first seasonal loan agreement with an obligation to buy conditionally for the performances.

Elliott was part of two Premier League-title-winning squadrons in Liverpool and was named player of the tournament when he helped the England Under-21s to win the UEFA European Under-21 Championship this year.

Villa, who sold midfielder Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United, has only one point of the opening of three games in the Premier League and has to score another goal.
