Transfer Deadline Day: large signing sessions in La Liga Summer Transfer window

The summer transfer window in Europe for the 2025-26 season finally came at 7 p.m. BST (11.30 p.m. is Ist) on 1 September, where deals were completed until the deadline.

La Liga was the second largest spender from Europe’s top five competitions with € 298 million splashed in the summer.

Here are five of the most important transfers of the La Liga Summer Window 2025:

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid)

The switch from Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid was one of the most discussed movements of last season, whereby the club reportedly paid £ 10 million to Liverpool to secure its services prior to the club World Cup in June. With veteran Dani Carvajal who returns from a long-term injury, Alexander-Arnold is now confronted with a struggle to strengthen his place in the starting XI.

Marcus Rashford (Barcelona)

The revival of Marcus Rashford in the second half of last season with Aston Villa earned him an annual loan movement to rule this summer by La Liga champion Barcelona. Now that Robert Lewandowski is still recovering from an injury, Rashford can get the chance to lead the line in the absence of the veteran or to have a decisive impact of the bank.

Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid)

A key factor in the success of Bournemouth Last season was the collaboration of Center-Backs Ilya Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen, with the latter attracting the Spanish Gigantic Real Madrid. Just like Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 20-year-old was signed for the club’s World Cup after Madrid had activated his £ 50 million release clause, and he has been setting up in the team soon since then.

Alex Baena (Atletico Madrid)

Atletico Madrid appeared this summer as a La Liga’s largest spender with an edition of € 176 million, a large part of which went to the signing of Alex Baena from Villarreal. The 24-year-old Spanish midfielder registered 26 goals and 40 assists in 148 performances for the yellow submarine, forming a move of € 42 million to the capital.

Joan Garcia (Barcelona)

Barcelona has endured its part of the problems between the posts in the past seasons, with a steadfast Marc-Andre ter Stegen set aside by long-term injuries. Last year Veteraan Wojciech Szczesny even retired to fill the void. Determined to take no risks this time, the club signed 24-year-old Joan Garcia from Espanyol. Garcia played an important role in the promotion of Espanyol to the top flight in 2023-24 and played a key role in helping the club to prevent relegation last season.
