Italian Super Cup that is held in Saudi Arabia for the fourth consecutive year

The Italian Super Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia in December, the Italian football competition announced on Wednesday.

«For the sixth time, the Italian Super Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia. This 38th edition will be performed in Riyad (from December 18-22),» a Federation statement confirmed.

Since 2023, the competition contains four teams: the Serie A Champion (Napoli), the League Runner-Up (Inter Milan), the Italian Cup winner (Bologna) and Cup Runner-Up (AC Milan, winner of last season’s Super Cup).

The plans of Serie A to organize the competition match between AC Milan and Como on 6 February in Perth, Australia, to prevent a collision with the Olympic Olympic opening ceremony of 2026 in the San Siro Stadium in Milan, was criticized this month by European supporters groups.

La Liga’s green light for the Spanish champion Barcelona’s League match against Villarreal to be moved to Miami, Florida on December 20, also came under fire.

Although several super cups such as the Italian edition are being performed abroad, those two games would be a first for European competitions.
