About the PCT in Washington.
According to Google: The Washington section of the PCT has approximately 500 miles and has approximately 111,000 feet of elevation gain and loss of elevation of 107,000 feet. This resistant terrain is characterized by steep and glazed peaks in the waterfall range, with daily lifting changes that may vary significantly, sometimes they exceed 8,000 feet of change in a single day. The «glazed peaks» in the waterfalls indicate significant, often steep ground, with high points and deep valleys. While this is a strenuous hiking, the views of the peaks and valleys are spectacular and are considered the best part of walking the PCT for some.
Heavy White Pass Mile 2298 packets Snoqualmie Mile 2396
When we left the whites, the path constantly rose from 4432 lifting feet to 5,475 feet of elevation in approximately 5 miles, then constantly fell to 4.103 feet of elevation the next 8 miles. We were starting 98 mile food transport, so our packages were heavy with a 5 -day food supply. Just before leaving the city of Packwood, I received a «search and rescue» text from Honeybun and Slingshot. Slingshot had left his floss fishing box in the grass, to the shore, somewhere in Lake Fish; which is in the 11 mile mark along a side path just before the PCT road begins a long climb. With those definitive and precise coordinates, I accepted the challenge of saving Slingshot’s PCT experience. So I found the correct side path (after following a different side path for forms). When I left the forest line; I saw a lot of coast, with long herbs everywhere, and with many animal/people paths leading to the lake. So how do you find a needle in a haystack? I decided to follow the main side path to an area that indicated a primitive camp of several hundred yards around the lake and then return to the shore. In the middle of the back, in fact I found the lure case sitting in the grass. It was not exactly as exciting as an impossible film of Tom Cruise Mission, but triumphant, I returned to the PCT and began my long up of up to 5,739 feet of elevation. He had no cell service, so he couldn’t let Slingshot knew he had found the case of the lure. He was going to spend several days later before he could let him know. It stopped for the camp in a beautiful valley and ended up being 5-6 other tents established there. We also enter on and off the limits of the Monte Rainier National Park and began to see an influx of hikers of Rainier Wonderland Trail. The next day, there was a thrust to the Chinook Pass path, since there was Word of Trail magic in the parking lot. The path had been clear of farms a couple of weeks before by a team of volunteers of PCT (our heroes) and was downhill, which made a good walk. They also had many family hiking groups that enjoyed the path going to several lake options. He had several conversations about walking along a long path with several people interested in what it was.
Trail Magic Extraineire
He arrived at Chinok Pass parking at a cornucopia of food, drink and companionship. Tom and Beth PHIPPS of Poulsbo WA had established a really epic magic trail oasis. Breakfast sandwiches, donuts, coffee, hot dogs, salads, every cookie and snack that can be desired, wine, beer, pop, water, under an awning with chairs. They settled once a year and we were the beneficiaries of the fate of good weather! They put a lot of effort to prepare for this and have a way to donate any of the leftovers to families that are not as good as others. Super great and began to be Trail Angels due to watching a YouTube video and had no other connection with the path. Social networks can be used for good!
We also had the fate of more magic of trails on a path of remote land in Tacoma Pass a few days after a young woman from Vancouvor BC who had uploaded the path last year. The sandwiches, the cookies, the watermellon and the drinks were in the menu, as well as a good communion. I apologize for not remembering his name … You were incredible and you made a difficult day to walk much better with your kindness.
A legend in manufacturing
The walk from Chinoak Pass to Snoqualmie Pass had a bit of gain and loss of elevation. In addition, the number of tree coverings throughout the path began to increase. I started walking with DND, a couple from the Netherlands through Dubai. We had been walking in the same bubble for a week or so. Deveney had a slip while he was on the rock rocks and caught his arm extending. It seemed that nothing had happened, but when he got into Packwood, his arm began to hurt. To be sure of what they were trying, they went to the doctor in a nearby city and discovered that he really had a crack in the bone for the elbow. They gave him a cast and temporary material to continue refreshing and made the decision to continue walking. Armed in a sling and using a trekking post, literally killed the rest of the path. Inspiring dinner and, of course, the word extends up and along the way. Dario, her husband, helped her navigate all farms and also a crossroads. Some farms were quite simple, but others were much more difficult and required more help to navigate. We had the opportunity to give a road to Snoqualmie out of Tacoma Pass and decided to take it, since it was reported that the next section had more explosions and significant elevation profits so that Deveney could have an easier walk that he took care of his arm. We were also trying to understand the smoke in the air of the fires that had emerged in recent days. We believed that the fires were south and east of us, but we knew that the State could change at any time. However, it was difficult to stay informed with real updated information on the state of fires and we feel the effects of negative change on air quality.
Snoqualmie
We arrived at Snoqualmie and took a fabulous lunch and drinks in the Dru Bru. Dario and Denveney had reserved a hotel room and went to the Washington Alpine Club to take a bedroom style with showers, laundry and breakfast and dinner that are provided for $ 65.00. He had a beautiful dining room and community room and the voluntary host was very cozy. I made my wife send me a pair of replacement hiking shoes since my current pair had received a beating about the 14 miles of lava rocks in Oregon and climbing, below and around all the exploitation. My left hip had begun to be painful for the heavy transport of 5 -day food, the loss of approximately 25 pounds and continuous earnings and losses while sailing through the mountains in the waterfalls. With the next section of the PCT path there is a considerable gain and loss of elevation: approximately 16,000 feet in 75 miles! It has the mountainous country and the alpine lakes and is considered very sterint. The distance requires that hikers transport 5 days of food, so I decided to take an extra day at the Alpine Club to prepare.
Consider volunteering to help keep our paths
It helps maintain sustainable paths for future generations. We find more paths of paths working to maintain accessible and sustainable paths now and for the future. Each team communicated that they need more volunteers to help with a gigantic annual task. Consider being volunteer in a trail project.
Keep going out and peace!
