Special beginnings
*Drumroll please*
My teraoa (TA) through the chain is now officially underway!
Yesterday, I took a Kerikeri bus to Awanui. Then, a transport service to the northern end of CAPE reinforces.
Cape Hell, New Zealand (New Zealand).
This area is sacred to the Maori. Cabo Reinga, also known as you rerengthen Wairua, refers to «the place where the spirits jump.» In Maorí, the word «Reinga» means a underworld. After death, it is believed that the spirits travel after and jump from the cliff, before entering the way to the spiritual world. An 800 -year -old Pōhutukawa tree that hangs from a cliff, marks this special entry.
He feels very humiliating starting this trip in such an important, spiritual and naturally beautiful place.
Come on!
At the top of the cape there is also a lighthouse and signs that give distances to different cities in the world. It is here where hikers celebrate the beginning (or end) of their trip throughout the TA.

The iconic distance is signed in CAPE rein will.
After some mandatory photos, it was time to get to the road. To wear 13 km (8 miles), and approximately two hours before sunset.

We were three starting together. Our bus was late, so we had to move before it darkened. Fortunately, we were arriving at the beach in the low tide, which makes it a easier walk.

Colorful land layers deposited a long time ago of the volcanic activity of the North Island.
Along the way, we obtained beautiful views of the coast and colorful dirt (relics of volcanic history of the North Island).
I ended up taking a good walk with a girl from Spain. After a slight deviation, and walking the last beach mile in the dark, we arrived at the Twilight camp after 3 hours. It felt good to establish my store, cook the dinner and let it soak that all this is finally happening.

Starting the first stage of the path of you.
There were about eleven of us in the camp of a variety of countries and different ages and origins. It is inspiring to hear everyone’s stories and see so many people explore.
I feel incredibly lucky to be in good company in such a beautiful place. Despite the heavy package, my spirit is high and I am ready for this adventure.
13 km down, 3045 km for the end.
