Saliba signs new long -term agreement with Arsenal


William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.

The defender of France has reportedly put pen for a five -year -old deal on paper, which will hold him in the club until 2030. His earlier contract should be carried out until 2027.

Van Saliba, 24, was expected to extend his stay in the Emirates, despite previously reported interest from Real Madrid.

The Center-Back came to the Gunners in 2019, but had a number of loan spells before he settled in Mikel Arteta during the 2022/23 season.

Since then, Saliba has been the core of an arsenal side that finished second in each of the last three seasons in the Premier League.

«I feel at home. We have a good team, we have a good team, we have good staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be,» Saliba said.

«I enjoy every day when I get the chance to wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I will give more to this club and to the fans.»

Manager Arteta said: “William is loved by all players and employees, and that speaks volumes about his character, dedication and attitude every day.

«Since he came to us, William has grown so much, embraced responsibility and has created a strong bond with our supporters and everyone at the club.»

Arsenal is second in the Premier League, two points behind leader Liverpool after six games of the season.
