Italy squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifications: Gattuso remembers Cristante, Chiesa fails to cut

Italian manager Gennaro Gattuso remembered midfielder Bryan Cristante when he mentioned his team on Friday prior to this month’s World Cup qualifications against Estonia and Israel, but Liverpool Vooruit Federico Chiesa has been left again.

Gattuso also did not -coated Fiorentina -Midfender Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Bologna recorded Nicolo Cambiaghi, together with AC Milan defender Matteo Gabbia, who has previously been in the team but still has to appear.

Cristante has played 43 times for Italy, but the AS Roma player has not been part of the current qualifying data, with his last limit at Euro 2024.

The last cap of Chiesa also came to Euro 2024 and, although the winger player this season has only made short appearances of the bank in the Premier League, he has scored twice for Liverpool.

Italy has won both games since Gattuso took over, a 5-0 banging from Estonia last month followed by a dramatic 5-4 victory over Israel. The Italians are again opposite those two sides while they offer to reach the World Cup after they have missed the last two tournaments.

Norway Tops Group I with 15 points, six for Italy, which has a game in hand. Israel is right on nine points with the Italians, but has played more a game. The group winner automatically qualifies, with second place in the play-offs.

Italy is gone to Estonia on October 11 and houses Israel three days later in Udine.
