A late goal helped India start their 2026 AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers with a 2-1 win over Kyrgyz Republic at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishek on Monday.
Pearl Fernandes opened the scoring for the Young Tigresses before Akmarak Satakbaeva equalized for the Kyrgyz side. It was captain Julan Nongmaithem’s strike in the 90th minute that gave India the victory.
India will next take on Uzbekistan, with only the group winners advancing to the continental tournament to be hosted by China next year.
