Manchester City fan dies ahead of Champions League match against Villarreal


A Manchester City fan died in Spain on Tuesday ahead of the club’s Champions League match against Villarreal.

City confirmed the death of Guy Bradshaw in a social media post and said it was ‘deeply saddened’.

«Everyone at the club would like to send our condolences to his family, friends and fellow fans at this difficult time,» City said in a message on X.

The cause of death has not been confirmed. According to the Manchester Evening NewsBradshaw had traveled to Benidorm for the match and was found by a friend in the apartment where he was staying early on Tuesday morning.

It said the family of 35-year-old Bradshaw had been informed there were no suspicious circumstances.

Tributes have been paid by fellow City supporters on social media and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for costs such as the repatriation of his body.

As of Wednesday morning, more than 17,000 pounds ($22,600) had been raised, with one anonymous donation of 8,500 pounds ($11,300).

“We are heartbroken to share the devastating news that Guy Bradshaw, our beloved son, brother, father, friend and true Wythenshawe legend, has sadly passed away suddenly while we were in Benidorm,” page organizer Eddie Williamson wrote. “Let’s come together for Guy, give him the send-off he deserves and show his family how many lives he impacted.”
