Champions League 2025/26: Liverpool ends losing streak against Eintracht Frankfurt; Galatasaray beats Bodo/Glimt

Liverpool scored three goals in nine first-half minutes in a 5-1 2025/26 UEFA Champions League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, ending a dismal run of four consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Frankfurt started well and opened the scoring when Rasmus Kristensen struck in the 26th minute, past the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and firing in from the far post.

But Hugo Ekitike leveled the Reds with a breakaway goal against his former team in the 35th minute, collecting a long pass from Andy Robertson and racing through from the halfway line before calmly driving past goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.

The floodgates opened when captain Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate headed home from corners in the 38th and 43rd minutes. Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai struck in the second half on a night that turned ugly for the home side.

The decisive victory was a much-needed boost to the confidence of Arne Slot’s reigning Premier League champions, who had lost four games in a row for the first time since November 2014.

Osimhen double guides Galatasaray to win Bodo/Glimt

Galatasaray made the most of a litany of mistakes from Norwegian visitors Bodo/Glimt as they cruised to a 3-1 home win, with striker Victor Osimhen scoring twice for the Turkish side in the first half.

Osimhen wasted no time in giving the home side an early lead, sweeping a sumptuous first-time finish past Nikita Haikin in the third minute, as the Norwegian side were quickly punished for giving the ball away cheaply in midfield.

Osimhen doubled his tally in the 33rd minute after another mistake. Under pressure as he ran upfield, Bodo left-back Fredrik Bjorkan inexplicably passed the ball straight to Osimhen in a central position, and the striker gratefully put the ball away.

Bodo created some decent chances of their own, but were made to pay again on the hour mark when centre-back Haitam Aleesami was robbed just outside his penalty area by Osimhen, and Yunus Akgun was able to score at the second attempt to make it 3-0.

Osimhen had plenty of chances to complete his hat-trick but was thwarted by keeper Haikin, and Bodo substitute Andreas Helmersen was able to head home a consolation goal from close range in the 76th minute as his side finished strongly.

The victory puts Galatasaray on six points from three games, while Bodo/Glimt is two points ahead of the home match against French side Monaco in two weeks. Galatasaray is the next away match at Ajax Amsterdam.
