Maybe there is still hope for Neymar. Brazil’s record goalscorer has struggled with injuries over the past three years, but coach Carlo Ancelotti still sees potential in the 34-year-old as he has reportedly called him up to the provisional squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Neymar has not played for his country since 2023 due to injuries and form problems. He played three times at the World Cup with his national team.
According to the Brazilian website Globo Esporte.Ancelotti has shortlisted more than 50 players for the final squad selection, including not only Neymar but also former skipper and veteran Thiago Silva, who recently won the Portuguese top division with Porto this season.
Brazil has been drawn into Group C of the World Cup with Morocco, Haiti and Scotland and will start its campaign against the Atlas Lions on June 16.
