Day 23: Doing tourist activities.

A quick update today, because some days you just don’t do anything special. And that’s what zero days are for!

Having never been to the US before, I have a short list of tourist goals I want to accomplish in addition to the AT. One of them is to visit a Walmart. Today is the day!

They have everything you could want! A little too much, because we may have bought too much food… Oops! But it’s not in vain! We’re going to experiment with some advanced trail cooking, stay tuned!

We saw a T-Mobile store next to Walmart, which is great! Because I can’t seem to call companies along the way. They fixed it! Very pretty!

We returned to the hotel, relaxed and went to get some food. A local hiker recommended the fast food chain called “Cook out”. It’s within walking distance, so let’s go! The only thing our hiker friend forgot to mention…IS THAT IT’S JUST A DRIVING RIDE! We don’t have a car!

Well, a southwestern grill is nearby and it sounds good! Some burgers, ribs, a barbecue awaits us! We just didn’t know that a Southwestern steakhouse means burritos and stuff, but we already had it yesterday… Okay, Chick-fil-A it is. We got our food before we could sit down. You guys are not kidding about your fast food.

Rested, full and replenished we went to bed. I feel ready to walk tomorrow!
