We slept like a rock in our bunk beds. At 7am breakfast was served: pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns and unlimited sausages. That’s a good start to the day!
Just as we finished breakfast, buckets of rain began to fall from the sky, along with thunder that shook the earth. We are very happy to have entered the hostel yesterday.
At the same time we realized that this time we were lucky, but we won’t always be lucky. Much of your experience here is based on circumstances beyond your control. Anyway, we take it as it comes. This time we were lucky.

In Hiawassee
After we washed our clothes, the free shuttle to Hiawassee was there. We had a cup of coffee at Starbucks, bought some socks and toe sleeves, and for the first time in our lives; We had lunch in an authentic American restaurant! One of our tourist activities: finished.

Back at the hostel we met up again with Ferdinand, Tags, America (who we met earlier in Above the Clouds) and some other hikers.
Tags, a hiker on his third run on the AT, warned us about problem bears in the area further up Franklin. Great…more bear problems later…
Well, there’s no way around it. So we’re just going through it. But that’s a worry for tomorrow. For now we are just enjoying each other’s company.
