Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembele was named Ligue 1 player of the year for the second year in a row on Monday after leading the club to the brink of a 14th French title and the Champions League final.
The 28-year-old becomes only the fifth player to win consecutive trophies, the last being Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2014.
Dembele succeeded Kylian Mbappe last year, who won the award five times in a row before leaving for Real Madrid.
“It’s an individual trophy, but all the individual trophies I have won are because of this team,” Dembele said.
The forward retained the honor despite an injury-plagued season.
He has only started nine games in Ligue 1, racking up 960 minutes of playing time, compared to 20 starts and 1,736 minutes last season.
Despite the reduced time on the pitch, Demebele has scored ten goals and six assists, still down from the 21 and eight he scored last year.
Paris Saint-Germain effectively took home another Ligue 1 title on Sunday when a 1-0 win over Brest put them six points ahead of nearest rival Lens.
With just two games remaining, Luis Enrique’s side also have a superior goal difference.
PSG will be officially crowned French champions for the fifth season in a row, and for the twelfth time in the past fourteen years, if they avoid defeat to second-placed Lens on Wednesday.
PSG are also preparing for the Champions League final against Arsenal later this month after beating Bayern 6-5 in the semi-final.
The Best Young Player award went to Dembele’s teammate Desire Doue, while Pierre Sage took home the Best Coach honor after making Lens direct challengers to PSG.
