The second round of Group B matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded on Thursday, with Switzerland and Canada recording comfortable wins.
Switzerland put four goals past Bosnia and Herzegovina and conceded one in a 20-minute spell at the end after a cagey first 70 minutes of play. Canada took the full toll of a two-man lead against Qatar, sealing a 6-0 victory.
Group B
| Position | Team | Played | wins | Pulls | To lose | GD | Points |
| 1. | Canada | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | +6 | 4 |
| 2. | Switzerland | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | +3 | 4 |
| 3. | Bosnia and Herzegovina | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | -3 | 1 |
| 4. | Qatar | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | -6 | 1 |
Qualifying Scenario:
Both Switzerland and Canada now have four points after two games and appear to be in an excellent position to qualify from the group. The two sides will play each other on June 24 in Vancouver to decide who tops the group. In the event of a draw between the two, they will both advance to the Round of 32.
The loser of the encounter will finish on four points and could end up level with the third-place team if there is a winner in the match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar. The first tie-break is the head-to-head record, followed by the goal difference.
The top eight third-placed teams will also qualify for the Round of 32, therefore much will depend on the match between Bosnia and Qatar to be played simultaneously with the other meeting on June 25. The third-placed team from this group is more likely to qualify if it finishes on four points.
If the match between Bosnia and Qatar ends in a draw, the former will have to hope it doesn’t end up among the four worst third-placed teams.
