Norway’s famous row party has become one of the viral sights of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but supporters in Oslo may need waterproof clothing when the team faces England in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
The five Norwegian matches at the tournament have drawn tens of thousands of supporters to outdoor screenings across the country. Fans have filled the streets and public squares to watch and celebrate the national team’s first appearance at a Men’s World Cup since 1998.
However, a weather warning issued for southeastern Norway on Friday morning has prompted authorities and organizers to revise plans for outdoor displays ahead of the country’s biggest World Cup match in years.
“Locally heavy rain showers with thunderstorms are expected on Saturday afternoon and early evening,” the Norwegian Meteorological Institute said in a yellow weather warning.

“In some places, more than 20mm could fall within an hour.”
The institute also warned of the possibility of rainwater in densely populated areas, water entering basements, localized flooding, landslides and flash floods in places affected by the heaviest showers.
The weather forecast will put the Norwegian saying: ‘There is no bad weather, only bad clothing’ to the test as supporters prepare for the quarter-final.
Organizers of outdoor screenings could get some relief, however, as the forecast suggests the rain will stop around 8pm local time. Norway’s match against England in Miami starts at 11 p.m. in Oslo.
