Amad Diallo’s late winner proved to be the difference between the two sides as Ivory Coast defeated Ecuador in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group E match at the Philadelphia Stadium on Monday.
The match appeared to be heading towards a goalless stalemate until Amad finished for the first time into the bottom left corner from a cross from Wilfried Singo after a marauding run down the right.
Ecuador did have a chance to find the net in the first half, but the attackers hit the woodwork twice. The Elephants grew into the match in the second half and eventually found the decisive goal in the 90th minute to take home all three points.
