Deniz Undav scored twice and set up another as Germany cruised to a 4-0 win over Finland in Mainz in the final home warm-up before the World Cup.
Undav got off to a rare start with Champions League finalist Kai Havertz yet to join the line-up and terrorized the outclassed Finns alongside 18-year-old Lennart Karl on his debut in Germany.
Undav was taken off with an injury shortly after scoring in a potential setback on an otherwise comfortable evening for the Germans.
Jamal Musiala, playing his first match against Germany since March 2025 after missing much of the season with a broken leg, scored on his return, while Florian Wirtz was also on the scoresheet.
Finland, ranked 73rd in the world, was no match for the four-time World Cup winner, who has one more friendly final before the tournament remains.
The Germans play against the United States in Chicago on Saturday, before opening their campaign against Curaçao on June 14.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann shuffled his deck in Germany’s final home game, handing Undav, Nathaniel Brown and Felix Nmecha rare starts, while including Karl in the XI for the first time.
Veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who suffered a shock recall almost two years after announcing his international retirement, sat out the match with a calf injury, with understudy Oliver Baumann named between the sticks.
The energetic Karl, 18, made an early impression as he came in from the right. Eight minutes later, Brown found Undav, but the Stuttgart striker’s shot was saved by Finnish goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.
Undav put Germany ahead in the 34th minute. Germany captain Joshua Kimmich made a beautiful cross from the right straight to Undav, who headed home.
Early in the second half, Undav pounced on a poor pass from Ville Koski and squared it for Wirtz to tap home.
Just before the hour mark, Undav was in trouble again when he burst onto a Karl pass and coolly fired home, only to be taken off with an injury immediately afterwards.
Musiala played his first match against Germany in 434 days and added luster to the victory when he fired home from just inside the penalty area in the 63rd minute.
