Gordon leaves Newcastle United? Eddie Howe has dropped a big hint ahead of the West Ham game

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe said Anthony Gordon could have made his final appearance for the club after reports the England forward would join Bayern Munich.

Gordon has missed Newcastle’s last four games, including two due to a hip injury. There is speculation that the Bundesliga champions are in advanced negotiations to sign him at the end of the season.

Asked on Friday whether he had left Gordon out as he made plans for the future, Howe said: “When you get to this stage of the season we are obviously looking at some of what we are going to do next year, so yes.

«Anthony just came back from injury. I think the team played well in his absence and with a partial look at the future, yes.»

Howe said discussions about Gordon’s possible departure could be underway, but insisted he was not part of the negotiations.

«No, nothing, no updates from me. These are discussions that may be happening, but not with me,» he said.

Howe must decide whether to include Gordon in Sunday’s Premier League match against relegation-threatened West Ham United at St James’ Park.

Brazilian international Joelinton, who started on Gordon’s left flank at Nottingham Forest last weekend, is struggling with a thigh problem.

“If it’s good for the team – and I put the team and the club above any individual – then of course I would play him,» Howe said of the possibility of Gordon being present this weekend.
