Haiti scored its first World Cup goal in 52 years during Wednesday’s Group C match against Morocco at the Atlanta Stadium.
Haiti opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Lenny Joseph turned a cross into the net with a beautiful back heel.
Although it was initially seen as Joseph’s goal, FIFA later changed it to Yassine Bounou’s own goal.
Haiti, which returned to the World Cup since 1974, has already been eliminated from the knockouts.
The only previous goalscorer for Haiti was Emmanuel Sanon, who struck twice, including a historic goal against Italy. Italy had not conceded a goal in 19 games before Sanon scored past Azzurri goalkeeper Dino Zoff.
