Manchester United defender Harry Maguire claimed he was left out of England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad and expressed his shock at the decision.
«I was confident that I could play an important role for my country this summer after the season I have had. I am shocked and devastated by the decision,» the 33-year-old wrote. X.
«Over the years I have loved nothing more than to put on that shirt and represent my country. I wish the players all the best this summer,» he added.
Tuhchel will name the 26-man squad for the global tournament on Friday and reportedly started calling players the day before.
The centre-back had played a crucial role in England’s run to back-to-back World Cup semi-finals and the European Championship final in 2020. After being left out of the team for most of Tuchel’s reins, the defender returned during the previous international break.
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who has just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, has reportedly been selected in place of Maguire.
