I arrived at the Damascus Diner (VA) almost right when they opened today at 7am. I loved the place. First of all, my chicken was fried there, not frozen fried chicken wings. On top of that, the portion was amazing. Everything was just great.
So. A lot. Food. Glorious
I walked a mile (one way) to Food City, where I was able to charge my battery while I shopped. I never found couscous, so it was largely potatoes and filling. Trek sent me a delivery of supplies (Thank you!), so I also have two freeze-dried fancy meals to add variety.
Generous supply drop from Trek. Electrolytes!
I left Damascus at 9:45 and headed up the climb. It’s definitely not one of the more difficult climbs out of the city. And once up there, things got more fluid. It wasn’t as complicated as going into town, there were a couple of steep climbs. The shin I injured today gave me a little push. Just a little pain, but I calmed down. Taking complete breaks every 45 minutes.
Mandatory view
We camped on a Straight branch. Stitch told me the couscous is next to the rice at Food City. I’ll check there next time. The cool breeze started a fire and the rest of the night was just relaxing.
